Men in Shorts

Oh to be in England! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and landscapes of breathtaking beauty are to be found all over our green and pleasant land. And men have started wearing shorts. Oh well, all good things come to an end. marigold x OMG you are so right…saw a very large man with huge tummy hanging over the top of his shorts.. with white legs and tons of red and blue veins looking remarkably like an A-Z in shorts why oh why not look in the mirror first! if you ever see me looking terrible, in what ever clothing, just shoot … Read More »

BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT or has it gone mad

I was flicking through the telly prog’s this week and caught bits of BGT, having read bits in the paper I thought I would stick with it for a while…. well I can only think Britain has gone bonkers, do you think people are really at home ringing in and putting some of these mad and terrible freaky ‘acts’ through as some of the most talented people in the great GB, a man doing terrible things with his ears and a chain saw and drill, a lovely but terrified dog ‘tap dancing’ lots and lots of tubby bellies and not in a good way! … Read More »

In the duck house

If a Right Honourable Member of Parliament feels he is justified in claiming for a designer dwelling for his ducks out of tax payer’s money, perhaps my impulse purchase of a lime green handbag isn’t quite so rash as I originally thought. marigold x

Gardens rock!

Yes its good to embrace the new, but sometimes there’s nothing like a bit of tradition to give you that real ‘feel good’ factor, and make us hark back to the good old days. Is it nostaligia talking, or the Chelsea Flower Show time of year? Whether or not you are a gardener, no-one could fail to be moved by the amazing display of colour, design, new technology, inventiveness – oh, and a few flowers along the way. This annual event brings together all that, to me, is good with the world. Not only does it herald in the glorious (well, when it’s not … Read More »

A PRETTY WOMAN IF EVER THERE WAS ONE

Thumbs up to Julia Roberts… in her spotty green ‘teeny weeny’ bikini playing with her kids Hazel, Finn, and Henry. At 41years she seems so confident in her own skin… the best bits are her little tum and bum, toned but not plastic looking, or too tight from the surgeons knife! She looks a real and curvy ‘pretty woman’ I for one am so sick of seeing ‘surgically enhanced xray stick thin’ bodies of any age being pushed as the norm, or even worse all the stringy sinuses in arms, legs and necks ( think Madonna) it all looks so weird and very unhealthy. The new … Read More »

A CUT OFF AGE TO HAVE CHILDREN

66 year old Elizabeth is 8 months pregnant, there is a good chance she will be 67 when she gives birth, is this too old to be a mum? I truly think it is, it’s all the ‘what if’s’ that send a shudder down the spine, what if it’s a girl, she will not have a mum to help when she is pregnant and a new mum, we all know how hard it is in the first few months, sadly my dear friends mum died young, before she could meet her daughters daughter and I know how desperately she needed her support, help and … Read More »

THE APPRENTICE

The Apprentice is getting quite exciting, Sir A is whittling out the deadwood… so far I have agreed with his choices, well I will stick my neck out and say I am NOT a fan of the poison dwarf Ben…. surprised he is still there. So we have the eye-shadow-lip gloss queen Debra, actually I think all the girl are all using the same make bag in the mornings, she is all mouth and not in a good way, very loud. I am kinda loving Lorraine, weird voice and red lips, she trusts her guts! Is that a good thing to do in business..? … Read More »

Just who do they think they are?

There aren’t enough adjectives in the Oxford English dictionary to express just what I feel about the sheer greed of our politicians – from all parties – claiming expenses from OUR money. How can we hope they can govern our country with any thread of moral decency, when they have little apparent understanding of what the electorate think, and what is morally acceptable? What is so frightening is that had The Telegraph not been the whistle blower on this scandal, this practice of claiming expenses for questionable items would have continued until goodness knows when.Considering some of these policiticians have had arguably the best education and … Read More »

BEST JOB IN THE WORLD

Petesfield is in sunny Hampshire, the south of England! That’s the home of Ben Southall and according to much of the press this week he has landed the ‘best job in the world’…. it’s actually a job as caretaker on an island off the Great Barrier Reef down under in Australia. But is that the dream job, the best job in the world, admittedly it is reported to be paying in the region of £75K and he did apply along with 35,000 others and GOT IT …. So proud, yes he should be and he is 34yrs so has a lot of time to … Read More »

Tea for Three

I’ve been sipping Earl Grey in a very smart London hotel. It felt good to be decadent as I nibbled on the cucumber sandwiches and shamelessly tried each of the cakes on the stand, ignoring calories and telling myself I should savour every minute – and mouthful. It seems I was not alone. In an hour, amongst business men, tourists and couples savouring their anniversary celebrations, I saw three very well known British beauties, all entirely different and spanning three generations, but on reflection, representing everything which is good about this country and our own unique style. The first was Kate Moss. Dressed in skinny … Read More »

Girl power

Two more amazing women have made their mark this week. Firstly the lovely Joanna Lumley who has fought tirelessly for the Gurkhas against a Government who were very happy to look the other way, and thankfully has now won their right to remain in this country. And secondly, a very , very special friend of mine who has been very unwell but still has pulled off the most amazing coup this week and organised something very special indeed. Well done you – you know who you are.Lovely mama robin – and clever her to choose Cupcake’s garden to make her home. Her babes will grow … Read More »

a mummy robin in the back garden

hi marigold, spring is here…. this little robin mum is sitting on four eggs, she has made her nest in one of our planters, it’s one we wrap up for the winter and tuck behind the garage, needless to say it has to stay put now, until we are all proud parents of the little ones. couldn’t get any closer or even have time to focus as she flies off at the least movement. Now what about the ‘swine flu’ will this massive scare turn out like the sar’s or bird flu lets hope so, I do think that the media make everything so … Read More »
