Mention the word ‘frock’ to me in my childhood, and it would evoke feelings akin to red pen on my homework, ‘dressing up’ for visitors and cross country runs in winter. Say ‘frock’ to me today, and I think picnics, parties, polo and lots of fun. I think flowers, gardens, beaches, flip flops and holidays in summer, and warm woolly tights and chunky boots in winter. We talk about leather on willow as the essential sound of an English summer, but how could you beat the thrill of Wimbledon? Sun, rain, babes, strawberries and cream, Murray mania, ‘you cannot be serious’, straw hats, good ol’ BBC, Ralph Lauren uniform, mown grass, weather checks, men in shorts who should wear shorts, queues, ticket touts, sunburned shoulders, Henman Hill, tears, traffic, tantrums, grunts, floral frocks, picnic hampers, tourists, patriotism, ‘no flash photography’, baseball caps, ‘out’, royal box, union jacks and balls, balls, balls….. Oh, and of course the tennis. marigold is back! and feeling good xxx

My fashion guru’s are Alexandra Shulman and Lisa Armstrong… why? well first we heard this week that Ms Shulman, Editor of Vogue ‘asked’ by letters the leading and top designers to ‘stop forcing the fashion mags and shows to use size zero’, Ms Shulman accused designers of sending fashion magazines “minuscule” clothes for fashion shoots, which forced editors to hire models with “jutting bones and no breasts or hips” These models look ill quite frankly and with the best will in the world no normal size 8/10 would be able to wear any of the clothes We also caught her on radio 4 ‘Womans … Read More »
What a shocker to hear about the death of michael jackson.Watching clips on every station and news channel….Its been so interesting to hear the tributes, people like sir paul mac saying what ‘a massively talented boy/man he was’, all the Motown crowd talking about him with great love and admiration.I had some of his music and even today you can’t stop your toes tapping when his music is played. I was so shocked to read that the DVLA are selling off our details to and I quote “rogue clamping companies”…. both the DVLA and the clamping companies are making millions from the deal…. I had one of those detox days – not swallowing vile green gunk, but clearing out a wardrobe and taking bags of my least loved items to the charity shop. It felt good to see the light of day between cramped hangers and my clothes could breathe a sigh of relief at having hanger space all to themselves. They swished, rather than squeezed.
