Could you marry a man because he is really really funny, “he made me laugh all the way to the bedroom” ? I absolutely love the gavin and stacy pair, mathew horne and james corden….. how weird is it that james has become a sex symbol, maybe its not money that means power now we are in a ‘ downturn’ we just need the laughter, that is the new aphrodisiac and as much as I think humour is a massive turn-on would I have looked twice at the gorgeous james had he been stacking shelves in a supermarket or pumping petrol? jack dee a … Read More »
A great, if slightly harrowing night out in Chichester Festival Theatre,West Sussex. Jonathan Church, who runs this wonderful theatre tucked in the south downs, has taken a ambitious look at the classic Steinbeck novel The Grapes of Wrath, and considering the present climate of the the recession we are in now it seems like a very bold step to take. The Frank Galati adaptation is a powerful piece, its is full of despair and poverty and yet there always seems a thread of hope coming from Ma Joad, skillfully played by Sorcha Cusack, she has optimism throughout every rotten thing that’s thrown at the Joad … Read More »

WELCOME TO THE NEW LOOK WEB/BLOG OF HANGUPS AND HANDBAGS
We are spreading our blogging wings and widening our net… poss to many cliche’s in that.
Our aim is to find web sites, companies, products and services that we have either tried, about to try or have friends and family who have tried!…. the comments and feed back from us will be ‘ in our opinion’ ….
The feed back could be good or bad but rest assured it will be honest. There will be plenty of space for your feed back too so do leave us comments.
We will still be on the cutting edge of news, views and the ups and downs of life in general and hope our new ‘up to date’ blogging will still amuse and inform…. our new strap line will be ‘style with a smile’

I only caught the last 5 minutes of Fern Britton’s final episode of This Morning, but 5 minutes was all it took to have me too in tears. Journalists, fashion editors and scriptwriters go to great lengths to try to sum up, either in print, design or image, what the ‘it’ factor is. For me, Fern has it in spades. She has warmth, beauty, charm, compassion, grace, dignity and great, great humour. She has been my sister, my mother and my best friend, often all in the same episode as I’ve laid snivelling on the sofa with flu, calming fractious children, or counselling distraught … Read More »
Check out this fab web site…. the launch for the new collection is on 15th July in Brighton, see details below. Miss Amy Phipps for Natasha Bailie Vintage Clothing Company Using vintage dress patterns from the 1950s, and carefully sourced new and vintage fabrics, Amy Phipps and Natasha Bailie have created a collection of Handmade ready-to-wear party dresses. Natasha Bailie, vintage clothing expert and stylist, wanted to expand her vintage clothing company and make sure nobody would leave her website empty-handed. “The biggest disappointment when buying vintage is sizing. The whole appeal is that there is only one edition of the dress, which means … Read More »
Well it was inevitable that the news/stories/pic’s would not stop with his memorial, the speculations are getting more and more bazaar… it is Princes Di all over again. Are people jumping on the money making band wagon? What is our obsession with the death/life of a mega celeb or should I say a real celeb in MJ’s case I read in one of the Sundays this week, several pages devoted to Jade Goody… the headline was ‘who killed jade goody’ I am not critical of the article which was trying to point out there were errors made by the hospital and poss the dr’s … Read More »
I missed last night’s memorial service, so my comments are only based on news highlights and today’s press – although yes, Mariah Carey is one scary lady. A musical extravaganza, a showbiz spectacle, call it what you like. One thing about the last 10 days though which has struck me more than anything is the blatant hypocricy of those celebrities just dying (excuse the choice of words) to ‘pay tribute’ to Jackson when they probably had little to do with him during his last lonely years. Were they standing in support when he had paedophile claims made against him? Did they help with his … Read More »

I was one of the billions who watched the Michael Jackson memorial ‘show’ last night, they did send him off in style, it has to have been the biggest funeral/memorial services outdoing kings, queens, prime ministers, presidents and poss even princes Diana. There were some very touching speeches and of course the highlight was seeing him dancing… boy he could boogie’. One of the performances that I found slightly weird was Ms Carey…. she with the roaming hands…. what was that all about!but loved Usher and Queen L, Stevie W, Brooke S and even the little X factor Welsh boy (who’s name I forget!) … Read More »
