We are very excited to have one of our short, sharp ‘get to know you’  interviews with the legend that is Stephen Fry.

His list of talents is so long that they would take up ton’s of this post… so let us just say we are huge fans and feel this interview is not only a great pleasure for us but we hope you too will enjoy a little insight into the man.

He is without doubt an extremely clever bod but also a very, very generous one, it is with grateful thanks to Jo who made this possible…and of course Stephen xxx

CUPCAKE      I’m love black and white movies. Do you have a favourite genre of film, maybe horror  or  Film Noir, comedy or documentary?

STEPHEN       English black and white. Boulting brothers. Powell and Pressburger. That sort of thing. Followed or equalled by Warner Brothers melodramas: King’s Row, Mildred Pearce, Dark Victory, Now, Voyager – that kind.

CUPCAKE     What was the last thing you read?

STEPHEN      Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel.

CUPCAKE     What’s your favourite comedy TV programme, present or past?

STEPHEN      Fawlty Towers. 

CUPCAKE     cosy night in or fav restaurant?

STEPHEN      Cosy night in

CUPCAKE       Although the news is generally all doom and gloom at the moment, what do you feel is man’s greatest accomplishment, so far?

STEPHEN      The Enlightenment. Freedom from the shackles of organised religion. It’s under threat though   (stephen put this in his reply)

CUPCAKE     Bath or shower?

STEPHEN      Shower

CUPCAKE     If you could only take one bottle of good wine on a desert island which would it be, red or white?

STEPHEN      Red. 1981 Cheval Blanc

CUPCAKE     Chocolate or cheese?

STEPHEN       Cheese every time

CUPCAKE      What would you say is your most annoying habit? and best attribute?

STEPHEN       Most annoying habit? Leaving the fridge door open (apparently) Best attribute:   Kindness.

CUPCAKE       Beatles or Santana?

STEPHEN       Beatles

CUPCAKE     What would your ’bucket list’ include? name 4 or 5 things you simply have to do    before……!

STEPHEN      Parachute descent. Climb Kilimanjaro. Read Proust. Learn Esperanto.

CUPCAKE     What’s your signature dish in the kitchen, beans on toast or the Sunday Roast or?

STEPHEN      Calvados syllabub

CUPCAKE     What is the best bit of advice anyone has given you?

STEPHEN      Be less polite and learn to say “no” (I never obey it)
