SERIUOS WARNING… BEWARE OF SOME AMAZON MARKETPLACE SELLERS…
I have just heard of a very clever scam… even the ‘fraud dept police’ are now involved..
You go on to Amazon web site…see something, put it in your basket and purchase! it turns out the seller is an amazon marketplace seller… then your troubles begin!
At first it seems like one very clever, greedy but determined person who was making dosh at the expense of others!  but it goes deeper and more widespread than that, including using buyers details (postal addresses etc) to open bank accounts and credit cards.
Hacking into and copy buyers email addresses, worse still is they are using a fraudulent amazon email address to con folk into sending stuff to the postal addresses of previous buyers… they then are waiting outside the house to collect post before the postman gets to the door! they sign with a cross or squiggle….hey presto they have the item back…. so the sucker, sorry, the buyer thinks he has returned the item to the seller and are awaiting  a refund.
It is possible to sell the same item several hundred times by making sure it is not how described on the amazon market place and knowing it will be returned…keeping the item to sell on and on and of course NO REFUNDS…
Surrey police are following up cases as we speak, it would be wonderful to think they will catch the blighters (want to use stronger words but dare not!! but you all know the words I’m thinking)..
These scams are rife at this time of year and the crim’s make vast amounts of money and can be stealing your identity!!
So tips…from a lovely policemen, if you get emails from the marketplace sellers with as an example:
 Cust. Service, Five-Star Sales richard@live.com
its the @live.com that is the give away…. also if you have had problems with a marketplace seller, and try to go through amazon…when/if they send you an email check the _ or - is there in the address…or check it closely with the authentic amazon one as the ‘sellers’ are very good at coping the amazon email addresses
Or better still do not respond with an email but call amazon direct help number is 0800 496 1081
Amazon will not refund you or cover your purchase because the sellers have told them you did not return the goods… so you stuck, no money back and no item! plus you have paid for recorded delivery of the item on to the next sucker! and there is a very good chance that somewhere, someone is buying lots of goodies in your name.
So a sad story of getting ‘scammed over’ at the time of year when it should be good will to all men…..bah humbug comes to mind!!!
