SO how old is old now… radio four mentioned a prog about how our bodies are ageing… or in the case of some people not being allowed to age and it got me thinking. It is scary for us mere mortals (with a budget) when you see in every glossy mag that ‘celebs’ are having ‘work’ done and they are still ONLY in their twenties and thirties!! Everything has it’s price, slimmer, trimmer, unlined face and body will equate to an anorexic shape bank balance! There is now heart age, body age, real age in years… but sometimes you just can’t tell an age when … Read More »

We like to share with you when we discover something new…. in this case it was a re-visit back to a site we have featured before….. I have just watched the live stream at LONDON FASHION WEEK for BURBERRY PRORSUM… and I will say here and now I BLOODY LOVE BURBERRY WITH A PASSION…. and I will always love it. I do wish I could have been in the front row but hey I am a simple soul and no clout with the powers that hand out the front row seats… But, and here is my little problem, the models were walking so badly, I thought, maybe I have been watching far to much ANTM or maybe the live stream was not good….. they all but ran down the catwalk, they looked bored and … Read More »
My favorite time of year and at least the snow has not stopped the enthusiasm of the fashion followers at the essential shopping event.. Sarah Brown (in a dress by Erdem) officially opened London Fashion Week at Somerset House this morning for autumn/winter season 2010 … I guess the feeling was somewhat subdued by the shocking news last week of the death of Lee Alexander McQueen, there was a minutes silence in his memory and a memorial wall for messages for the amazing designer. With 68 catwalk shows and more than 200 labels on show… Burberry Prorsum is showing in 3D on Tuesday and everyone will be looking … Read More »
Sometimes (in fact often) you read something in the paper which really makes you mad. This week it had to be that our favourite high street chemist Boots has, allegedly, stopped issuing loyalty points for powdered baby milk. This apparently has come from on high, ie Brussels. The thinking behind this is that ‘breast is best’, and awarding loyalty points on powdered milk may encourage mothers to bottle feed. What on earth do people take women for? It’s hard enough being a new parent with the dreaded ‘mummy mafia’ watching your every move, extra inch and stolen malteser, without now being penalised for making … Read More »

Last year we went to a concert in aid of a hospice… it was an amazing event with the caliber of actors one will rarely get on one stage at the same time, the fantastic Anne Reid, Paul McGann, James Bolan, Patricia Routledge, Aled Jones, Susan Jameson, Geraldine James, two of the Harker sisters…. and many others…. Amongst this glittering company was a very talented singer songwriter called Jane Taylor.. she was fantastic, she performed three of her own songs and everyone in the audience wanted to buy her CD there and then. We have been following her with great interest and are delighted that she … Read More »

I speak English. When I went to school I learnt French and Spanish (and latin but I slept through most of that). Now there is a new language on the street. It’s called ‘I work in a shop and have the ability to ignore all customers and continue a conversation with other staff about my social life/sex life/acne/overdraft/boyfriend/best friend/worst friend/haircut all whilst searching for an organic lime or processing a credit card. Am I bovvered??? marigold x

I guess it had to happen. Too much stress and emotion just led me to a new handbag. This time its the Black Beauty of bags – a real thoroughbred. Dark, sleek and classy, she slips effortlessly from day to night, has lots of zips and buckles to make me feel safe and looks, well, expensive. Yes, she was, but not as much as some of the very WAG BAGS we all see out there. Much more understated and less obvious. This one is Hugo Boss – think George Clooney in a bag…..dark latin looks, slim lines and dead sexy! And MINE………….. … Read More »

Ok we have found another little gem of a web site for you… we have already done our shopping with the wonderful creator of these beautiful pieces… here is her story… Time & Tide Jewellery is a small business that I run from my home in Wiltshire inbetween dealing with an attention seeking dog, who thinks he’s human and a senile (steak-stealing) cat still going strong at the age of 21. It all began with selling at small private parties and graduated to charity fairs and larger events such as The Country Living Show. The business was born … Read More »
Katie Price to marry again! well unbelievably they did get married in Vegas yesterday, the unbelievable bit is that it was is headline news!….. This time it is rumoured that she will change her name… Katie Reid, reinvention maybe? she has had some bad press over the Andre debacle and now Alex has proved himself worthy!!! (I am coughing my amusement here!)… winner of this years celeb big brother the rings are going on. One question floating around in my cynical mind… would they be tying the knot if he had been voted out first… or just not won??? oh goodness ..actually do I care? … Read More »
Again the debate is on… the right to assisted suicide, what would you do… last week Kay Gilderdale was cleared of attempting to murder her daughter Lynn, who was paralysed by ME. I have heard interviews on the radio with people who have made that decision, my heart goes out to them and in particular Mrs Gilderdale.. but which side are you on…was she brave, is breaking the law in that way brave. She will live with that for the rest of her life… isn’t that enough. Baroness Campbell of Surbiton, who is opposed to change, said that she feared the DPP’s new guidelines would be … Read More »
