This is not a pretty story, yesterday I was cutting the grass, very happy really sun shining, birds singing, me singing, wonderful aroma of the cut grass…all was heavenly, and then walking back to the house, heard a strangle little noise in leg area, put my full weight on my right leg and horrible PAIN! many swear words very loud, may have offended new neighbours, hopping and limping got indoors and sat down. At the time my OH was going for a train, he was waiting for a cab to take him to the station, which sadly was late, so he was already in a bit of … Read More »
Nature is a wonderfully life affirming thing. A metaphor for good conquering evil and the sun shining quite literally after all the rain – and of course who could forget the snow – of this past winter. With just a little bit of love and TLC, those hidden gems under your frozen soil will delight you once again. And where better to experience the very best nature has on offer than at Chelsea Flower Show. To visit Chelsea really is a tonic for the soul. Forget the angst of transport, parking, sore feet and loos, and just lose yourself in the magic that has been all … Read More »

The Chelsea Flower Show opened today, the day when the celebs, press and the Queen get to preview the whole show. I have been lucky enough to go several times on the Press day, spent many happy hours looking out for the perfect garden, furniture and plants oh and of course the designers, and it’s worth every second. You do need a healthy bank balance to actually make a purchase or two but if not it is still so inspiring to see what can be done. One of those years a friend and I made it to the press day, parking was a nightmare, … Read More »

Second lovely thing, or things are in my garden: bluebells geraniums clem’ and white bluebells all just a little walk from the back door
The first lovely thing is this, a dear friend sent me this amazing piece of jewellery. It’s handcrafted from recycled magazine beads, made in Kisumu, Western Kenya. JUZI. It is so beautiful, I FEEL VERY SPOILT
Fashion has no logic. Trends come and go, and at first glimpse of a new design on the catwalk you can pretty well tell if you are going to go with it or not. OK, so some things take a while to get your head around – puffball skirts for instance. I remember when I first saw them way back when thinking they were just bizarre, but soon became a convert and loved the flirtatiousness of them and that fact that no-one’s thighs looked small, so no need to fret on the diet front. Shoes are the same. I love and always have loved platforms … Read More »

MOBILE PHONES AND TETRA MASTS… DO WE REALLY KNOW THE TRUTH? Again this week in the news is the information about the risks, particularly to the young, the risk of developing a brain tumour or some form of a cancer. The radiation from the handsets ARE SIMPLY NOT GOOD FOR US! There will always people who … Read More »

After seeing Legally Blonde last week I thought we would re-run the interview we did with Peter Davison, he was amazing and so well cast. The dancing, music, costumes, everything was just right…came away tapping my foot like a gooden’ All the leads were fantastic, as is the whole cast, even the cutie dog! A great night out with heaps of feel good factor. Actor Peter Davison, who is no stranger to the West End Theatre’s is currently appearing in Legally Blond the Musical playing PROFESSOR CALLAHAN. Realizing my passport ran out last month I had a mild panic, I may not need it quite yet but what a shocker. Off to the post office, I picked up the form, filled in and according to the lovely lady behind the counter, I did it badly, going over the box edges, only slightly I must tell you, who can write that small? and using blue ink! it was ten years ago and I had forgotten all these rules, I am not good at reading all the blurb that go with the forms! I will next time. Second attempt went much better, felt I had got … Read More »
I’m just back from a wonderful week away and now, three days later, have only just surfaced from the washing/ironing/sorting of e-mails/phoning family/paying bills/clearing up of dead wasps (and worse) that have found their way into my formerly spotless house (how dare they?!)/weeding the garden/mowing the lawn (well OK, not exactly me mowing) and re-stocking the fridge. Not sure why I did the latter as I made the very, very big mistake of weighing myself on my first morning back. Depressing or what? How can so much hard work be undone in just seven short days? I read Cupcake’s posting on her chat with her … Read More »

A SLIMMER’S DILEMNA…. want to eat but want to stay lithe! Having my hair done, you know what it’s like..trapped in the chair, the questions start like are you going somewhere nice for your holidays this year, this Christmas, this summer, yardayarda… and then it’s on to the weight concerns! I have a wonderful hairdresser and she like me is sort of rounded, not obese but maybe could lose a pound or ten, ok maybe a stone or two! or possibly three, there I have said it out loud… We were chatting about the various diets we have both tried over the years and came … Read More »
