We are just loving these bags…. as you know Marigold and I have a ‘thing’ about handbags and look at these little cuties we found on line.
Now don’t say we never share with you all, these are so scrummy and perfect for the summer, we had a little chat with Sam to find out more about her and her wonderful designs.
Cloth Magpie
Initially the concept behind Cloth Magpie arose from a desire to combine my passion for collecting vintage textiles with my skills as a handbag designer. By creating a functional object from the fabulous prints that I have hoarded over the years I feel as if I am giving them a new lease of life and almost justifying my “Magpie” tendencies.
As the brand has developed, so has my interest in textile design and I am really excited to now be designing and printing my own range of vintage inspired prints. This new element of the Cloth Magpie brand will be available for Spring Summer 2011.
History of Sam Cross
Originally from a fine art background, Sam began designing handbags in 1995. Her early collections of sculptural and decorative bags were sold through high end retailers in Cambridge, London, New York and Hong Kong and appeared in many of the well known glossies including Marie Claire, Vogue and Elle.
Her return to the industry has seen a move towards structured day bags, creating a canvas like area to display the textiles/prints and providing a refreshing alternative in this competitive market.
