RUBBISH DISPOSAL… As a nation are we teaching our kids, including teenagers, how to get rid of their rubbish!
I think not, I was parking in a supermarket car park next to a little cit saxo with three young girls inside, they were eating ‘lunch’ bought from the supermarket, as they finished one of the sandwiches they just chucked the wrapping out the window, tempted as I was to give it back to them saying something like “I think you dropped this” the ‘look could kill’Â one of them gave me put me off speaking!
When I had finished my shopping I went back to my car and their car had gone… in it’s place was 3 sandwich packets, 2 crisps pks and the plastic trays from 2 salads, two plastic juice bottles, couple of chocolate bar wrappers and an empty water bottle.
So shouldn’t we be teaching kids that this is totally unacceptable behaviour, these girls looked in their early twenties, what do their parents do with all their rubbish, is this learnt by example!
On the road were we live it is also like a rubbish tip,  many drivers just throw all their rubbish out of the window and it gets scattered along the path and pavement, I can fill a black sack some Monday mornings!
I know we are all trying to recycle things ( in our area we get fined if things are not put in the correct coloured bin) but to be honest it really feels it is a lost cause, if people, and I am not blaming just the young here, people would just have a little more respect for mother earth and all of our surroundings, just take the crap home for gods sake or find a bin!
It’s possible that those three young girls will one day get married/have babies and what then, will they ignore it if the baby throws rubbish out of the pram…. ‘someone else will pick it up, no big deal’.
Who will teach the valuable lessons about rubbish recycling and saving the planet.. because let’s face it that is the bigger picture here. We can’t or shouldn’t just assume someone else WILL pick it up and put it in the right place.
OK rant over… but I was very cross!
