November is a month for comfort TV. It’s too cold and too late to catch the warmth from the last rays of summer, and too early to feel any Christmas cheer. Up until last Sunday, Downton Abbey was providing that feelgood factor, but nothing could ever match the amazing spectacle we see every year on Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph and services around the country,  and the well of emotion they evoke.
Seeing generations of armed services in all their military splendour marching past the Cenotaph, paying tribute to the fallen and showing us what incredible sacrifices our armed services make on a daily basis, is a humbling sight indeed. The beauty of that sea of poppies masks for many unbearable pain, and  I never fail to feel overwhelming pride in the old, the young, and those left behind.  Whatever your political persuasion and views on such matters, there are lessons to be learnt by us all by shows of such grace, dignity and utmost bravery.Â
