NEW DIET OR RESTYLE THE WARDROBE

The DUKAN, Evolution, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World, Jenny Craig, Rosemary Conley, Lighter Life, Cambridge, Cabbage Soup….the list of diets is endless.

I have tried a good few myself and really wish I had found one that I could stick to, a diet will never work permanently unless you adopt it as a new eating way of life really, because the minute you eat ‘normally’ on goes the weight.

So I have decided, once the pressure of losing weight is off and I no longer worry to much, and my daily mantra isn’t “oh no I shouldn’t” I can concentrate on my wardrobe… I am NOT skinny, am never going to be skinny again, I was an undernorished five foot eight inch seven and a half stone boney young thing once! work, work, work was my mantra in those heady days and I regularly forgot to eat!

Nowadays I am curvy wench who loves food and life…they can fit along side each other very well…. back to wardrobe, I love the layered look for the winter, the maxi dress is my best friend in the summer, I see it is still here in some of  the 2011 spring collections, I love floor length trousers too, long line jackets and tee’s.

For me a few new items to up-date the wardrobe and accessories to help face lift a favorite top, dress or whole outfit … trend watching can catch you out so I try to stick to things that suit me and my bod…sometimes that comes over as slightly wacky but I can live with that. Some of my friends have no idea which age bracket to shove me in…again I can live with that!

One of my favorite collections is HEBBEDING, it is a beautiful designer brand, was founded in 1989. With strong lines I think they are original and timeless designs. Hebbeding is a Dutch Design. Perfect for layering and for covering the bits you would rather not see.

Other ranges are NaturalMente a German Design, Out of Exile, stunning soft fabrics, soft and fluid, again perfect for layering, you can dress them up or look very casual, they are a perfect summer wedding, or snug for the winter evenings.

There are so many clever ways to dress…’anything goes’  it seems…a few classic bits and some fun bits to dress up or down. I love the hunt for the next perfect outfit and then accessories it.

The main thing is to be healthy and happy…. for me once I had stopped obsessing about diets and got happy with my bod..all was/is well.

I have often been guilty of being swept up by the diet thing, especially this time of year. I have had problems on and off with my weight and it is only in the last year or so that I finally have accepted my body shape.
    Great post xxx

Ditching the diets is the only way. As you say it’s impossible to keep them up forever so the pounds always come back on – if you managed to lose any of course! I love your approach to making clothes work for yoaviVaving clothes that don’t fit and you don’t like in your wardrobe is like hanging a big poster up saying “you’re too fat and you’re a failure”. You see it everyday and are reminded of all those diets which haven’t worked. Wearing clothes that you like, feel good in and fit properly is the first step to healthy relationship with your body – and often weight loss comes as a by product of that. The irony! Most women keep putting getting nice clothes off until they have lost weight and look “ok”. I love that you have decided not to waste another minute! Great post!
