HOT OR COLD?

Nothing makes me feel as good as the sun on my skin and the feeling of warmth from the inside out.  Our recent heatwave has been wonderful, but even though I’ve loved getting out my white jeans that barely sore the light of day during our so called summer, even during the last few days I’ve been sneaking a peak in my wardrobe and looking lovingly at the tweed and cosy knits that await me this autumn – and of course the boots.  Oh the boots!

My great consolation of summer’s end is slipping on my socks and renewing my relationship with my favourite boots, and of course every girl’s best friend, black opaque tights.   For however much I love the look of white linen, and however tempting the glimpse of bright florals and summer hues may seem when they first hit our stores in the cold dark days of winter, nothing quite hits my buttons the way winter dressing does.  Butter soft leather, rich jewelled colour cashmere, chunky cardigans, a funky hat, fabulous ankle skimming or thigh hugging coats in every fabric, indigo denim flares, skinny legged cords tucked into Uggs or over the knee boots, crisp white shirts with a scarf and tailored jacket, cosy pyjamas to curl up in to watch our favourite Downton Abbey, fake fur trims,  scarves, bags and gloves……. you name it, winter dressing has it.  And whilst work, finances and family permitting I’d do anything to jump on a plane to find more sun, I can’t help but admit there’s always a part of me that hankers after winter’s rich bounty awaiting me back home.
